CONTEXT
FULCRUM is a civil engineering company from Biscay, a leader in infrastructure management. It faced the challenge of digitalizing the complete management of the Triano dam, in a sector still highly dependent on manual processes. This situation limited monitoring and maintenance planning capabilities, resulting in data silos, low operational visibility, and decisions driven by intuition.
SOLUTION
With the goal of unifying processes and enhancing monitoring, Fulcrum implemented the digital twin platform TOKII across multiple devices, initiating the transformation at the Triano dam with the intention of validating its effectiveness and subsequently scaling it to the rest of the infrastructures under management.
They incorporated advanced data capture technologies such as laser scanners and LiDAR to visualize them within the digital twin, monitoring key metrics such as structural auscultation, hydrometeorological data, and bathymetry. Additionally, TOKII was equipped with offline and augmented reality functionalities, ensuring work continuity in hard-to-access environments, outdoor areas, or tunnels without coverage, with automatic data synchronization once the connection is restored.
To strengthen the solution, an AI assistant module was enabled, specialized in emergency protocols and trained with the company’s internal policies, allowing teams to consult in real time the actions to follow in critical situations.
RESULT
TOKII transformed the operational management of the dam by enabling real-time monitoring, historical data consultation, and advanced visual analytics, enhancing the ability to make data-driven decisions.
The AR mobile app allows geolocation of tags, KPIs, and incidents in the environment without the need for additional GPS, and enables the registration of tickets with images, videos, audio, and other files. It also provides access to BIM information for each element, as well as the ability to view the 3D model by layers and adjust opacities. Complementarily, the AI assistant enhances operational safety by providing reliable information at all times.
