This article provides an overview of the BIM methodology used in construction, the different dimensions that compose it, and the leading platforms in the market.

Additionally, it shows how immersive technologies facilitate the understanding of BIM data and models; as well as how geographic information systems provide information about the position of the model; and the combination of both allows for visualizing the model on-site in the field.
